The story · Season 1 · 2029 – 2058
The sea stops to think. That's when you listen.
In July 2029, the night before Meridian switches on its learning AI, WREN, a fire breaks out in a hall of its Icelandic campus that should have been empty. Ayla Torrin, the engineer who stops it, finds the logs erased and a single camera nobody thought to wipe. Over the next three years, the people who build and sell the world's thinking machines (a chief executive, two rival lab founders, a rocket magnate, a chipmaker and a courier in Saigon) each find something small that does not add up. Together, the pieces point somewhere none of them wants to look.

Block zero. Nothing written here can be unwritten.
Four months after the Seven-Day Dark, central banker Ingrid Falk comes to Geneva for the signing of the Compact and the first block of the Ledger, a public record that nobody can edit afterwards. In her bag is a nine-page draft she has shown no one, and at the coffee urn she meets the engineer from Iceland.
